Silvia Pomares | MA

Graduate of the Master’s in Mental Health Counseling program*

Before coming to the US, I had been practicing as a psychologist in Spain for five years. My goal was to come here and practice in the mental health field as soon as possible. BGSP was the perfect place to complete my studies in order to obtain a Mental Health Counselor license.

I believe that psychodynamic psychology is the most comprehensive and understanding approach of human beings. BGSP provides you with a learning experience that, starting with your own personal development, gives you deep understanding of personality theory and its implications for practice. The therapeutic tools acquired during the program are paramount in understanding your client’s problems and helping them.

BGSP helped me secure an internship at the South End Community Health Center in Boston. At the end of my internship, they offered me a full-time position and I still work there today.  If not for BGSP, I may never have found the opportunity to join such a wonderful community. The relevance of my studies in psychodynamic training are very valuable and respected in my job environment. I am very grateful for the quality of my experience at BGSP plus the ongoing support and proximity they have always demonstrated when navigating me through each step of the process.

*This degree is now entitled Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
