Seyed Vahid Hosseini | MA

Current Student,  Doctor of Psychoanalysis

I am a current student in the Doctoral Program of Psychoanalysis and have worked as a therapist in private practice for the past ten years. I have experience working with children, adolescents, couples, families, and adults. I have worked in private clinics, elementary and high school settings, and in child psychiatry clinics. I was trained as an Intensive Short-term Psychodynamic Therapist (ISTDP) but shifted my focus to psychoanalysis to practice long-term therapy with fewer constraints.

I was drawn to BGSP because of the unique options and degree programs which the school offers for learning psychoanalysis. I chose to begin the doctoral program as I want to become an analyst. I chose to be in a deeper and longer program to learn and to be trained. The most unique aspect of my BGSP training has been the integration of theory and practice. Thus far, the fieldwork seminar has been my favorite class because the instructor helped me to understand the theory during the fieldwork practice with patients.

I currently work as a therapist in DCS and after graduation hope to continue my private practice in my home country and to start a new one here with Americans. Outside of BGSP, I enjoy cafe hopping, going to movies, and attending concerts.
