A Ten Year Journey for Social Justice

Dr. Stephen Soldz was one of three lead authors (along with Steven Reisner and Nathaniel Raymond), of a report covered on the front page of the May 1st New York Times detailing evidence that they allege shows that high ranking members of “the American Psychological Association secretly collaborated with the Bush administration to bolster a legal and ethical justification for the torture of prisoners swept up in the post-Sept. 11 war on terror” (Risen, J., NYT, 5/1/15).  The authors, all human rights activists, spent nearly a decade investigating the role of psychologists in the US policy on torture.

Join us on June 13th to hear Dr. Soldz relate the story of this challenging quest for truth and human dignity.

Presenter:  Stephen Soldz, Ph.D., Cert.Psya. is Professor at the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis where he is the Director of the Center for Research, Evaluation and Program Development.  He is a past president of Psychologists for Social Responsibility, a cofounder of the Coalition for Ethical Psychology, an anti-torture adviser to Physicians for Human Rights and has been an active participant in the controversy regarding the roles of psychologists in US interrogations and other national security activities. He served as a consultant on several Guantanamo cases.

Free and open to the public.
