Harm Reduction, Abstinence and the Connection with an Addict/Alcoholic
- This event has passed.
March 14, 2015 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
What motivates a person to stop drinking or using drugs? Is the concept of harm reduction versus abstinence the beginning of a possible change? Or is harm reduction a form of collusion? This event addresses these questions and the challenges of working with the client’s resistance to treatment.
This workshop is designed to help the participant to:
1. Define the concept of harm reduction.
2. Distinguish and discuss the difference and the likeness of harm reduction and resistance.
3. Identify the challenges of working with addicts and alcoholics who are continuing to drink
