Music has the ability to resonate with our strongest feelings and impulses. It will be used in this workshop as a tool for clinicians to enhance the understanding of addiction treatment. Some concepts that will be discussed are transference, treatment destructive resistance, and countertransference.
Objectives
- The participant will be able to define transference as it occurs in treatment with the addict..
- The participant will be able to identify instances of countertransference that are aroused in work with addicts..
- The participant will be able to identify the difference between resistance and countertransference reactions as they occur in their work.
Presenter:
Sherry Ceridan, Psya.D. is an adjunct faculty member at BGSP and former outpatient director of a substance abuse agency. She has over 30 years working in the addictions field and has a private practice in Brookline, MA.
