The Interdependence of Blue and Natural Light:
The Positive and Negative Impacts of Digital Objects on Our Human Relationships and Vice Versa
Hosted by BGSP’s Department of Continuing Education
For the past 30 years, we have been living, relating, and working in the digital era. This event addresses some of the qualities of our digital objects e.g., smartphones, laptops, iPads, and Alexa. It argues that the digital object can become a kind of family member. What characterizes our ways of relating to one another and to our digital devices in this era? How have our ways of thinking changed? How do we acknowledge and navigate the sense of excess and arousal associated with these ever-present devices? Finally, the emergence of AI, in terms of its implications for learning and, even, the conduct of psychotherapy will be discussed. The ongoing differences and tensions between machine and body, animate and inanimate, virtual and real are considered. The roles of corporeality and authenticity will be explored.
