Personal Statement
My life has been devoted to the study of both psychoanalysis and art. I received my Ph.D. in clinical and developmental psychology at the same time I was studying painting. Early in my career as a therapist, I specialized in the treatment of children and families. I utilized my experience as an artist by using art as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool, helping children identify their feelings through art and putting them into words. My interest in art therapy lead me to teach in the Expressive Therapy Department at Leslie College for two years. I have always been at the belief that modern psychoanalysis liberates the creativity in each individual patient and enriches their lives.
